The Southern Division is commanded by Captain Rikki Goede. Rikki Goede was hired on October 21, 1996. Prior to being hired by San Jose, Rikki worked 10 years with the San Diego Police Department and was a sergeant in the Narcotics Unit at the time of her transfer. As an officer with the San Jose Police Department, Rikki worked in patrol and then was selected to work in the following specialized assignments: Entertainment Zone, Community Services Division, and Field Training Program. Rikki was promoted to Sergeant on March 16, 2003. As a sergeant, Rikki was a patrol supervisor, as well as an investigative supervisor in the Internal Affairs and Robbery Units. She was promoted to Lieutenant on February 22, 2007, where Rikki was a Patrol Watch Commander, Gang Investigations Unit Commander and Homicide Commander. Rikki was promoted to Captain on July 11, 2010, where she currently serves as the Southern Division Patrol Commander.
Southern Division Policing Priorities
- Increase Police presence in commercial centers to aide in crime prevention goals
- Increase police presence in high-density residential areas
- Progress through partnerships will continue with community members and organizations
- Additional prevention, intervention and enforcement in local parks.
- Work with city staff in (SNI) Strong Neighborhood Initiative areas to address issues of community based concerns and complaints
Southern Division
Southern Division encompasses more than 1028 “street” miles. It is the largest of the four patrol divisions. Southern Division is comprised of four patrol districts: Adam, Tom, X-Ray, and Yellow. The boundaries of the Southern Division are Capital Expressway to the North, the Town of Los Gatos to the West, the Foothills to the East, and the City of Morgan Hill to the South. Southern Division hosts such attractions as the Almaden Lake Park, the Almaden Quicksilver Park, and Coyote Creek Golf Club - one of Silicon Valley's most distinguished golf courses. Additionally, the Almaden Valley Art and Wine Festival takes place each September.
