The City is comprised of four divisions: (FOOTHILL, CENTRAL, WESTERN, AND SOUTHERN) Each division contains several police districts with geographical boundaries. The mission and goals of the Bureau of Field Operations are the same regardless of the division.
FOOTHILL DIVISION covers an area of approximately 42 square miles and has population close to 295,000 residents.
The Foothill Division is made up of four police districts: C-Charles, M-Mary, P-Paul, and W-William. The Foothill Division extends from Interstate I-680 and Montague Expressway (border of the City of Milpitas) in the north; to the East Foothills of San Jose west of U.S. Highway 101; and to the southern edge of the Evergreen Valley neighborhood. Attractions in the Foothill Division include Lake Cunningham, Alum Rock Park, Reid-Hillview Airport, Eastridge Shopping Mall and Raging Waters.
Community Service Officer
This is a civilian position in the Police Department. Community Service Officers are assigned to the Foothill Division and will be deployed in the field to assist police officers by responding to and investigating lower priority calls for service, so police officers will be available to respond to higher priority emergency calls for service and have more time for proactive enforcement. The Community Service Officers will not perform any enforcement duties, such as issuing traffic or parking citations, towing abandoned vehicles or making arrests.

Crime Prevention Unit
The Department has Crime Prevention Specialists assigned to the Foothill Division. Police and Community Partnerships create an opportunity to work together to improve the safety of our community. We do this by sharing information about neighborhood crime issues and discussing ideas and tips on how to solve and prevent them.
