Permits Unit

The Permits Unit accepts application fees and issues permits for specific businesses that require a police regulatory permit as required by Title Six, and other sections of the San Jose Municipal Code. The Unit also conducts on-site inspections and when appropriate, will either educate or take enforcement action to compel compliance with local permitting codes and ordinances. The Unit is also responsible for the issuance of official Department photo identification cards to all active and retired sworn, non-sworn and contract personnel.

False Alarm Abatement Detail staff respond to inquiries from the public, investigate violations, input related data, and issue administrative citations when appropriate.
