Narcotics Covert Investigations
The Narcotics/Covert Investigations Unit is the undercover investigations unit for the San Jose Police Department. The primary role of the Unit is to covertly investigate narcotics and property crime violations. The Narcotics/Covert Investigations Unit conducts undercover drug and property buys. NCI also supports other units in the Bureau of Investigations with surveillance and criminal apprehension.
NCI has two of its officers assigned to the South Bay Metro Task Force, which is administered through the State Bureau of Narcotics Enforcement. The mission of SBMTF is to diminish the availability and use of methamphetamine through interdiction at various manufacturing sites. The two officers are trained in the safe dismantling of clandestine drug laboratories.
