Deputy Chief: Christopher Moore
The Bureau of Technical Service is commanded by Deputy Chief Chris Moore. Deputy Chief Moore has been a police officer for over 25 years. He has worked in numerous assignments including Patrol, Patrol Administration, Street Crimes, Internal Affairs, Burglary, Community Services, Systems Development, Field Training and a tour as department spokesperson. In 1999, Chief Moore was selected as a White House Fellow and served one year as Counsel to U.S. Attorney General Janet Reno. In 2004, Moore was awarded a Fulbright Police Research Fellowship to study police accountability at the London School of Economics and New Scotland Yard. He is a member of the Police Executive Research Forum (PERF) and the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP). Deputy Chief Moore holds a B.A. from the University of California at Berkeley, a M.P.A. from San Jose State University, and a J.D. from Lincoln Law School of San Jose. He is a member of the State Bar of California and is a graduate of the California P.O.S.T. Law Enforcement Command College.
BTS Commander:
Captain: Diane Urban
Captain Diane Urban was hired January 5, 1986. She worked in patrol and was then selected to work in Special Operations, M.E.R.G.E... She later worked in the Intelligence Unit before being promoted to Sergeant in February 1993. As a sergeant, Diane supervised patrol officers on both the midnight and swing shifts. She then served as a Field Training supervisor before taking over as the Horse Mounted Unit sergeant. She was promoted to Lieutenant in March 2000 where she served a Patrol Watch Commander in Foothill, Central, and Western Divisions. Diane then became the commander of the Vehicular Crimes Unit which encompasses both the Traffic Investigations Unit as well as the Auto Theft Unit. She was promoted to Captain in February 2004 where she was the Foothill Division Captain for two years. Diane then went on to become the Special Operations Captain where she supervised M.E.R.G.E., Metro, K-9, Bomb Squad, Air Support, Horse Mounted, Traffic Enforcement, V.C.E.T., and the Tactical Negotiation Units. In February 2008, Diane transferred to the Bureau of Technical Services where she is currently assigned. The Bureau of Technical Services includes the Communications Division, Operations Support Services Division, and the Systems Development Unit.
Diane is a graduate of the West Point Leadership Program hosted by the Los Angeles Police Department and a member of the WestPoint teaching staff.
