Position Summary:  The Public Safety Radio Dispatch Trainee Position (PSRD) is a non-sworn classification and under general supervision, performs work of moderate difficulty in dispatching police personnel, and performs related work as required.  PSRD’s are required to handle the full range of telephone answering and dispatch functions.

Smiling DispatcherExamination:  The selection process will consist of an evaluation of the applicant’s training and experience based on the application, resume and answers to the job-specific questions and Peace Officer Standardized and Training (POST) Public Safety Dispatcher examination T-score of 55 or higher and the following:  

Candidates:  Only those candidates whose backgrounds best match the position, pass a Personal History Questionnaire (PHQ), pass the Peace Officers Standards and Training (POST) written exam with a T-score of 55 or higher may be forwarded to the next phase, which is the computer practical examination (Criticall)

Working Conditions:Work is performed in a structured and sometimes stressful work environment that includes structured breaks and lunch schedules. Incumbents are required to wear a uniform and work various shifts including nights, weekends and holidays; overtime may be required including last minute shift extensions.
