Assistant Chief of Police:
Rikki Goede
Assistant Chief Goede was hired on October 21, 1996. Prior to being hired by San Jose, Rikki worked 10 years with the San Diego Police Department and was a sergeant in the Narcotics Unit at the time of her transfer. As an officer with the San Jose Police Department, Rikki worked in patrol and then was selected to work in the following specialized assignments: Entertainment Zone, Community Services Division, and Field Training Program. Rikki was promoted to Sergeant on March 16, 2003. As a sergeant, Rikki was a patrol supervisor, as well as an investigative supervisor in the Internal Affairs and Robbery Units. She was promoted to Lieutenant on February 22, 2007, where Rikki was a Patrol Watch Commander, Gang Investigations Unit Commander and Homicide Commander. Rikki was promoted to Captain on July 11, 2010, where she served as the Southern Division Patrol Commander. Captain Goede was promoted to Assistant Chief on August 22, 2011.
Rikki obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Criminal Justice from Augustana College in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She is a graduate of the West Point Leadership Program hosted through Los Angeles Police Department, as well as a graduate of the Community San Jose Leadership Program.
