The San Jose Police Department is not staffed to monitor Facebook or other social media for operational or enforcement purposes.



The Department's social media sites are intended to serve as forums for communication between the public and the City of San Jose - Police Department. Comments posted by residents may be monitored periodically. The City reserves the right to restrict or remove inappropriate comments including those that have obscene language or sexual content, include potential evidence relevant to an investigation, threaten or defame any person or organization, violate intellectual property rights or the legal ownership interest of another party, support or oppose political candidates or ballot propositions, encourage illegal activity, promote commercial services or products, or are not topically related to the particular posting. Repeated posting of inappropriate materials will result in a ban from the San Jose Police Department Social Media Pages.

Specific questions about crime concerns or reporting of crime issues should not be made via these social media forums and will not be followed up on.
