How to Prepare for Testing
Preparing for the testing process ensures higher levels of success. We encourage all applicants to prepare themselves for testing by utilizing the following:
- Download a California P.O.S.T. practice written exam http://www.post.ca.gov/publications/PDF/poWrittenPracticeTest.pdf
- Practice the physical agility test http://www.theacademy.ca.gov//
- Attend our Oral Interview Preparation Seminar, an overview of all SJPD tests and selection process
- Attend our Seminar Series of Becoming a San Jose Officer and hear their experience and advice on being a San Jose Officer
- Go on a ride-a-long so you get a feel of what it is like to be a San Jose Police Officer (Contact the Community Services Unit at 408-277-4133)
- Read through the San Jose Police Department website http://www.sjpd.org/ and the City of San Jose website http://www.sanjoseca.gov/ and find out more information about us.
