As technology undergoes rapid advancements, the methods and procedures we use as law enforcement officers are rapidly advancing our abilities
to reduce and solve crime. The Internet is a prime example of how police departments and the community can assist each other to
fight crime, and to provide key information on violent crimes.
The San Jose Police Department Homicide Unit is tasked with the investigation of all Homicides, Officer involved shootings, and suspicious deaths. The Homicide Unit is comprised of a Lieutenant, (9) Sergeants and (3) Detectives. The Crime Scene Unit is comprised of one (1) Sergeant and seven (7) Crime Scene Investigators (CSI). Each two man detective team works on a rotation basis in the Homicide Unit. They are also partnered with at least two CSI on every incident.
The San Jose Police Department Homicide Unit is committed to the unrelenting pursuit of those offenders who have committed murder and the successful prosecution of those involved.
It is our hope that through our professionalism that the citizens of San Jose feel comfortable in contacting us with information related to any Homicide that has occurred.
