Officers worked a Crime Suppression Detail in the Downtown area.  Officers wrote three citations, conducted two probation searches, and contacted a registered sex offender.

Graffiti Enforcement

Details:

One sergeant and three officers worked to combat graffiti related issues. One suspect was arrested for a $20,000 felony graffiti warrant. Another vandal was arrested for graffiti, possession of graffiti tools and violation of probation. Follow up investigation was conducted in regards to recent graffiti up and down Monterey Highway.

The Traffic Enforcement Unit conducted DUI saturation patrols, which were funded through a grant from the State Office of Traffic Safety. The results of the saturation patrols are as follows:

-1 arrest for driving under the influence of drugs
-1 cite for DUI probation violation

An officer located a stolen vehicle and attempted a traffic stop.  The suspect refused to yield and fled from the officer. The officer briefly pursued the vehicle.  The officer terminated the pursuit in the interest of public safety due to the suspects hazardous driving.

The male victim arrived at VMC hospital with non-life threatening stab wounds. The victim was at Kelly Park where he was involved in a verbal argument which turned physical. Officers responded to the area in which a citizen had observed a person breaking into vehicles. Officers canvassed the area for additional victim vehicles and witnesses.  During the canvass, officers contacted a male that was eventually determined to be the suspect.  Officers arrested the suspect for auto burglary.

Possession of concealed firearm

An officer observed a suspicious vehicle in the area. He developed probable cause to stop the vehicle. Upon searching the interior of the vehicle, the officer found a concealed semi-auto pistol with two full magazines in the center console of the vehicle. The officer arrested an 18 year old male subject and booked him into the county jail.

Three unknown suspects approached the victim while he was getting gas and brandished a handgun.  The suspects demanded the victims property.  All three suspects fled in a vehicle with the victims property.  The victim received medical attention at the scene by EMS personnel but was not transported to a hospital.  The suspects remain at-large.
