Livinston Police Chief Ruben Chavez wrote the following thank you to Officer Kirk Niemeyer #3452:

I wish to thank and recognize one of your officers for an outstanding job while recently assisting a friend visiting the country.  Eearlier this year, I was in San Jose meeting a friend who was visiting from New Zealand.  The out of town visitor, Dr. Graham Houghton, founded a higher education institute in Bangalore, India and is now a professor at Peking Uneversity, yet still resides in New Zealand.  While driving through South San Jose, he was a victim of a hit and run where a motorist struck his vehicle and fled.  The vehicle, which was on loan to him, sustained moderate damage, thankfully no one was injured.

Your department was contacted and Officer Kirk Niemeyer responded to investigate and assist Dr. Houghton answer the many questions he had.  Officer Niemeyer handled himself with the utmost professionalism and showed true empathy with the victim as he reassured him that the suspects were being sought and provided the steps necessary to have the insurance company cover the loss.

I wish to thank the San Jose Police Departmetn and Officer Kirk Niemeyer for representing your agency in such a professional and caring fashion and for doing a great job!  Dr. Houghton had nothing but praise and accolades for the San Jose Police Department.  Please pass along my gratitude to Officer Niermeyer and encourage him to keep up the good work!
