VTA thanks Sgt. Robert Lopez for his efforts on a case

Donald S. wrote in to commend Sgt. Robert Lopez, badge #2784, for his efforts to help manage a difficult incident in downtown San Jose on February 3rd, 2012.  In that incident, a vehicle pursuit ended in the area of San Carlos Street and South Second Street when the fleeing vehicle crashed into a street signal pole, knocking it down.  The pole fell onto the VTA light rail tracks.  The suspect fled on foot and was captured by officers a short time later.

"Sgt. Lopez helped to get our bus and light rail vehicles through the intersection and clear of the area and coordinated removal of the crashed vehicle between train movements to minimize disruption of our service and get the area restored to normal quickly," wrote Donald.  "I was on site at the time, and the Sergeant's efforts are much appreciated by the VTA."
