San Jose:

On Monday, 8/20/2012, at approximately 6:39 p.m., the San Jose Police Department received reports of a shooting on the 1900 block of Poco Way. When officers arrived, they learned the victim, identified as a 23-year-old San Jose resident, had been taken to Regional Medical Center, in San Jose, by friends, where he was pronounced dead. The investigation revealed the shooting had occurred on the 1900 block of Story Road. The unidentified suspects fled prior to the arrival of officers and remain at large.

The circumstances and motive remain under investigation, although it is believed this shooting is gang-motivated.

The victim's identity is being withheld pending official identification.

This marks San Jose's 29th homicide of the year.
