Follow-up investigation by Homicide detectives lead to the identification of additional suspects involved in the murder of victim Bolivar Leyva. Warrants were obtained and on January 3, 2017, San Jose Police Department's Covert Response Unit arrested David Mendivil for Accessory After The Fact - 32 PC, Matthew Mendivil for Murder - 187 PC, and Paul Lozano for Murder - 187 PC.

On January 4, 2017, San Jose Police Department's Covert Response Unit arrested Esaias Valles for Murder - 187 PC.

All suspects were booked into the Santa Clara County Jail on noted charges.

Note: The original press release indicated Suspect Alexander Lozano was arrested, however charges were not filed. As a result of the follow up investigation, Suspect Lozano was charged with Murder - 187 PC while he was in custody in the Santa Clara County Jail on other charges.

San Jose:  On Monday, August 15, 2016, at approximately 6:18 PM, officers responded to Regional Medical Center on a report of two males driven to the hospital suffering from at least one gunshot wound each.  Victim #1 was pronounced deceased at the hospital.  Victim #2's  injuries were determined to be non-life-threatening.

Follow-up investigation revealed the shooting occurred on the 200 block of N. White Road as the victims were traveling in a vehicle.  The motive/circumstances surrounding the shooting are under investigation.  San Jose Police Homicide Detectives responded to the scene and took over the investigation.

Officers continued to conduct follow up investigation and identified Suspect Alexander Lozano as a person involved in the shootings. Suspect Lozano was booked into the Santa Clara County Jail for 187 PC - Homicide and 245 PC - Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
