SJPD is investigating an Officer Involved Shooting that occurred on 5-2-17

AGE: 28 Years
ADDRESS: San Jose Resident
OFFICER: Mario Martinez #3815 EXPERIENCE:  15 Years

San Jose, Calif. - On Tuesday, May 2, 2017, at approximately 11:35 PM, San Jose officers responded to the 1500 block of Mt. Frazier Drive on a report of a family disturbance.  Upon arrival, the suspect Tourino charged at one of the officers while holding a large knife raised over his head.  In defense of his life, the officer discharged his firearm striking the suspect at least one time.  The suspect was transported to a local area hospital and pronounced deceased.

The officer will be placed on routine paid administrative leave. The Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office and the San Jose Police Department's Homicide Unit are conducting a joint criminal investigation. The case is being monitored by the San Jose Police Department's Internal Affairs Unit, the City Attorney’s Office, and the Office of the Independent Police Auditor.
