SJPD Arrested a Coach for Annoying or Molesting a Child under 18 Years of Age

San Jose, CA The San Jose Police Department's Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) / Child Exploitation Detail (CED) task force arrested suspect Timothy Nguyen for Annoying or Molesting a Child under 18 years of age and Intimidating or Persuading a Witness/Victim. Nguyen worked as assistant coach at Quicksilver Swim Team, a private swim club that conducts business at Gunderson High School between December 2015 and January 2017.

On May 30, 2017, the Quicksilver Swim Team contacted San Jose PD to report the allegations. San Jose PD launched a criminal investigation which revealed that between December 2015 and January 2017, Nguyen established a texting relationship with various members of the swim club. Initially, the conversations were regarding swimming. However, over time, Nguyen targeted male and female members of the swim team and asked for nude images and/or sexual favors. Furthermore, Nguyen attempted to pursue a dating relationship with one of the victims. Three victims have been identified.

On 6-22-17, Nguyen was arrested in San Jose and booked into the Santa Clara County Jail on 4 counts of Annoying or Molesting a Child under 18 years of age (misdemeanor) — 647.6(A) PC and 3 counts of Intimidating or Persuading a Witness/Victim (felony) — Penal Code 136.1(B).
