Update: SJPD Arrest Suspect from 7-3-17 Homicide: 600 block of S. 10th Street

VICTIM: Myla Thi Dang AGE: 20 Years
ADDRESS: Marina, CA. Resident
 
SUSPECT: Daniel Gebrehiwet Zeratsion AGE: 19 Years
ADDRESS: San Jose Resident
 

 Update: 7-12-17

The suspect responsible for the death of Myla Thi Dang has been arrested.  On July 11, 2017, suspect Zeratsion was located and arrested at the U.S.-Mexico border by U.S. Customs and Border Protection Officers.  The suspect will transported back to San Jose and ultimately booked into the Santa Clara County Jail for homicide.



San Jose:  On Monday, July 03, 2017 at approximately 5:07 PM, officers responded to the 600 block of S. 10th Street on report of a welfare check. The reporting party stated he heard loud bangs coming from inside the residence. Upon arrival, officers located victim Dang suffering from at least one gunshot wound.  Dang was pronounced deceased at the scene.

San Jose Police Homicide Unit responded to the scene and took over the investigation.  Preliminary investigation revealed the suspect and victim were known to each other. The motive and circumstances surrounding the incident are unknown.  The suspect has not been located and remains at large.
