SJPD Arrests Suspect for Assault w/a Deadly Weapon & Felony Evading

San Jose, CA  On Sunday, October 29, 2017, at approximately 10:00 PM, San Jose police officers along with the California Highway Patrol, Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office, and Morgan Hill Police Department conducted a racer enforcement operation at various locations throughout the City of San Jose.

A San Jose police officer was struck by a vehicle during a traffic enforcement stop for reckless driving on Hostetter Road near Highway 680. The officer was treated at a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries. The solo occupant driver fled the scene and evaded pursuing officers who obtained a partial license plate number. Follow-up investigation by the Assaults Unit led to the suspect's identity.

On Friday, November 3, 2017, at approximately 3:30 PM, suspect Huerta-Cabrera was taken into custody at his residence by the San Jose Police Department's Violent Crimes Enforcement Team and METRO Unit. Suspect Huerta-Cabrera was subsequently booked into the Santa Clara County Jail for Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Felony Evading.
