SJPD Arrests Suspect for Trespassing/Prowling and Peeking/Prowling

San Jose, Calif. - On Tuesday, May 1, 2018, Willow Glen residents observed a male suspect on video surveillance trespassing onto private property and peeking into an occupied bedroom window.

On Thursday, May 3, 2018, a person believed to be the same suspect was captured on video surveillance at a nearby Willow Glen home appearing to case the property. The suspect walked down a driveway and shined a flashlight at the video surveillance camera. Several neighbors circulated the video footage and still photos on social media. The suspect was recognized by members of the community and identified by detectives as Hector Leanos, Jr.

San Jose PD Financial Crime / Burglary Unit detectives obtained a misdemeanor arrest warrant for suspect Leanos for Trespassing and Prowling 647(h) PC and Peeking and Prowling 647(i) PC. In addition, detectives obtained a misdemeanor arrest warrant for Domestic Violence  243(e) PC for an unrelated case.

On Friday, May 18, 2018, at about 3:30 PM, San Jose PD Covert Response Unit officers took suspect Leanos into custody in the City of San Jose and was subsequently booked into the Santa Clara County Jail on the above charges.
