On Tuesday, October 27, 2009, San Jose Police Graffiti Enforcement Officers and San Francisco Police Department served a search and arrest warrant in the 4400 Block of Cabrillo St., San Francisco, CA.
 
The Graffiti Enforcement Officers conducted an investigation on the tagging moniker "GIRAFA" and the cartoon character of a giraffe. Officers discovered 10 felony cases involving the moniker of giraffes in the City of San Jose. The total amount of damages in the 10 cases was approximately $40,000. During the investigation, officers discovered thousands of pictures of graffiti involving the moniker "GIRAFA" and the cartoon character of giraffes through social websites. Officers discovered that Steven Free committed multiple vandalisms in Santa Clara County, Alameda County, San Francisco County and Contra Costa County. The investigation revealed that "GIRAFA" is one of the most prolific taggers in the bay area.
 
The Graffiti Enforcement Officers obtained a $100,000 arrest warrant and search warrant where additional evidence was recovered. Steven Free was booked into Santa Clara County Main Jail on the warrant.
