San Jose, Calif. - Follow-up investigation by the San Jose Police Department's Homicide Unit lead to the identification of Joseph Miller as the person responsible for the murder of victim Alfred Perez. Miller fled to Mexico after the murder. A warrant was obtained for his arrest and over the last several months, Detectives have been working with the United States Marshals Service on locating and apprehending him. 

On Thursday, May 10, 2018, the San Jose Police Department with the assistance of the United States Marshal Service, coordinated with the Mexican authorities to apprehend Miller in Guadalajara, Mexico. Miller was flown back to the United States and booked into Montgomery County Jail in Texas. Miller will remain in custody there until he is extradited back to San Jose.

San Jose: On Tuesday, November 08, 2016, at 7:38 PM, San Jose Police Officers responded to the area of W. Alma Ave. and Mastic St. on a report of several people involved in a fight. Arriving officers located an adult male victim suffering visible injuries. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The motive or circumstances surrounding the homicide are unknown at this time. No suspects have been identified or apprehended. 

This is the City's 42nd homicide of 2016.
