SJPD Arrests Suspect for Annoy/Molest a Child Under 18 years with a Prior Conviction

Suspect: Ashour Tarverdi
San Jose, Calif. - The San Jose Police Department's Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force / Child Exploitation Detail (CED) arrested Ashour Tarverdi for Annoying or Molesting a child under 18 years of age with a prior conviction (felony) - Penal Code 647.6(c)(1).

This school year, students at Willow Glen Middle School and Willow Glen High School reported to police that they were followed and contacted by a subject driving a red pick-up truck. The driver allegedly made unsolicited lewd comments towards the victims. Follow-up investigation located video evidence depicting the vehicle’s license plate. ICAC detectives identified Tarverdi, a lifetime registered sex offender with a previous conviction for Annoying or Molesting a child under 18 years of age, as the suspect and obtained a  warrant for his arrest.

On February 22, 2018, ICAC detectives and San Jose patrol officers arrested Tarverdi at his residence and subsequently booked him into the Santa Clara County Jail on listed charges.
