SJPD Arrests Spanish Teacher for Sex Crimes

San Jose, Calif. - The San Jose Police Department's Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force / Child Exploitation Detail (CED) arrested suspect Ricardo Chavarria for Sexual Penetration and Oral Copulation with a person under the age of 18. Chavarria  worked as a Spanish teacher at Pioneer High School in San Jose.

On January 22, 2019, Pioneer High School staff contacted the San Jose Police Department to report the suspect’s involvement in the above listed crimes. The investigation revealed that between November 2018 and December 2018, Chavarria sexually assaulted the victim inside his classroom. Chavarria was arrested today at Pioneer High School. He was subsequently booked into Santa Clara County Jail on 4 counts of Sexual Penetration with a person under the age of 18 (felony) — 289(h) PC and 3 counts of Oral Copulation with a person under the age of 18 (felony) —  287(b)(1) PC.
