SJPD Arrests Suspect for 2-9-19 Homicide

San Jose, Calif. - On Saturday, February 9, 2019, at about 6:37 PM, San Jose police officers responded to a person stabbed at the Palm Tree Motel, located at 2724 Monterey Rd. in San Jose. Arriving officers located an adult male victim suffering from at least one stab wound. The victim was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased a short time later.

The preliminary investigation revealed suspect Martinez and the victim live at the motel in separate rooms. The victim was visiting Martinez's room when the suspect attacked the victim and fled the scene. Responding officers located Martinez nearby and took him into custody without incident. 

Martinez was booked into Santa Clara County Jail for murder. The identity of the victim will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office after they confirm the victim’s identity and notify next of kin.

This is the City’s 6th homicide of 2019.
