SJPD Arrested a Suspect for Robbery, Kidnapping and Elder Abuse

San Jose, Calif. - On Monday, July 1, 2019, at about 8:20 AM, San Jose police officers responded to a burglary in the 2600 block of Agua Vista Drive in San Jose. The investigation revealed the victim was about to exit the front door of her residence when the suspect, who was standing outside, pushed her back inside the residence. The suspect took jewelry from the victim's person and forced her into a closet. The victim sustained minor/non-life threatening injuries. The suspect fled the scene prior to officers arriving on scene.

Patrol officers canvassed the area for evidence and obtained video footage of the suspect. Robbery detectives created a flyer and circulated it to patrol officers. At about 1:30 PM, Sgt. Todd Jennings located the suspect walking on E. Santa Clara St. at S. First St. in San Jose. The suspect was taken into custody without incident and the victim's jewelry was located on the suspect. 

The suspect, identified as Derico Montez Jones, was booked into Santa Clara County Jail for Robbery, Kidnapping and Elder Abuse.
