SJPD Arrests 4 Suspects for 7-12-19 Homicide: 3200 block of Montecito Dr., San Jose

San Jose, Calif. - On Friday, July 12, 2019, at about 9:30 a.m., San Jose police officers responded to a call of a burglary in progress at a residence in the 3200 block of Montecito Drive in San Jose. When officers arrived on scene, they observed a vehicle leaving the area.  Officers attempted to stop, and briefly pursued the vehicle, which failed to yield. The pursuit was terminated due to safety reasons and unknown want at that time.

Officers then responded back to Montecito Drive and confirmed there had been forced entry at the residence. Officers entered the residence and located victim Nghia Nguyen suffering from life threatening injuries. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Follow up investigation by homicide detectives led to the identification of the above listed suspects.  On July 16, 2019, the San Jose Police Department's Covert Response Unit located and arrested suspect #1, Bud Landers at a residence in Oakland.  Suspect Landers was booked into Santa Clara County Jail for murder, burglary, and robbery.

On July 26, 2019, suspect #2, Theron Brooks was located and arrested at a residence in Merced and booked into Santa Clara County Jail for murder, burglary, and robbery.

On August 15, 2019, suspect #3, Shaqueoia Brooks was located and arrested in San Jose and booked into Santa Clara County Jail for being an accessory to murder and conspiracy. 

On August 22, 2019, suspect #4, Imari Harris was located and arrested at a residence in Oakland and booked into Santa Clara County Jail for murder, burglary, and robbery.  All suspects remain in custody since their arrest.

"I'm proud of the relentless investigation conducted by our Homicide detectives. I hope people can sleep a little safer knowing these individuals are off the street," said Police Chief, Eddie Garcia.
