The San Jose Police Department is pleased to announce the “Remove It or Lose It” car burglary prevention campaign.  In collaboration with the Santa Clara, Milpitas, Fremont and Newark Police Departments, the San Jose Police Department has initiated a prevention campaign aimed at reducing car burglaries.  The funding for this campaign was obtained via a $750,000 state grant secured by Assemblymember Kansen Chu.

San Jose Police Department Crime Prevention specialists will be out at Eastridge Mall at 2200 Eastridge Loop, San Jose on Friday, December 20, 2019, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, greeting shoppers with candy canes and a reminder to hide valuables out of sight from potential criminals.  Car burglary prevention tips can be found at which showcases a new Car Burglary webpage and a new Public Service Announcement reminding people to “Remove It or Lose It.”  In addition to these prevention efforts, the San Jose Police Department has increased patrols at shopping malls and highly targeted strip malls.

Through prevention, intervention, and enforcement efforts, the San Jose Police Department is committed to reduce car burglaries and promote safety during this holiday season.
