San Jose, Calif. - The San Jose Police Department arrested suspect Brian Gillean for arson - 453 PC (felony) and a no bail felony warrant for probation violation.

On February 23, 2020, and March 3, 2020, multiple fires occurred in the downtown and Rose Garden area of San Jose. The suspect threw multiple molotov cocktails (glass bottles with a fuse) at structures and walkways causing minor damage. The suspect fled the scene and was not apprehended.

“I’m very pleased with the collaboration between the San Jose police and fire department arson unit,” said San Jose Fire Chief Robert Sapien, Jr. “The solid investigative skills on both teams have led to the quick capture of a suspect who was endangering our community.”

Suspect Gillean is known to frequent many of the areas associated to the fires under investigation. Suspect Gillean was booked into Santa Clara County Jail for the above listed charges.
