WHAT: Backpack and School Supply Distribution to Santee, McKinley, and Los Arboles Elementary School students in San Jose
 
WHO: Shop with a Cop Foundation of Silicon Valley, Uniformed Police Officers from various Santa Clara County Police Agencies, San Francisco Resident Office of the FBI, Santa Clara County Park Rangers, Moffet Field 129th Security Force Squadron, Corporate Leaders, Elected Officials, Community Volunteers, and Target Associates will distribute backpacks and school supplies to over 800 elementary school students

operation backpackSan Jose, CA -- On Saturday, August 8, 2020, the Shop with a Cop Foundation of Silicon Valley along with local law enforcement, San Francisco resident office of the FBI, Santa Clara County park rangers, Moffett Field 129th Security Force Squadron, elected officials, corporate leaders, community volunteers, and Target associates will be at Santee Elementary School in San Jose distributing backpacks and school supplies to over 800 pre-selected elementary school students. Due to Covid-19, this will be a no contact event. The Shop with a Cop Foundation of Silicon Valley's mission is to foster better relations between the police and the community.  "We are pleased to participate in providing these students with the items they need to start the school year off right.  Our local police officers want to help. These are challenging times. We need to show police officers though a positive lens.  Shop with a Cop Foundation of Silicon Valley is about calming fears and rebuilding trust in the community" — Darrell Cortez Executive Director

Local police agencies and uniformed police personnel will distribute backpacks loaded with supplies to children and families with a drive up and drive out process.  Officers will be available for comments.

People wishing to make a donation so more children may participate, can mail them to: P.O. Box 8003, San Jose, CA 95155.  Make checks payable to Shop with a Cop Foundation Silicon Valley or at www.shopwithacopsv.org via PayPal.
