Update to SJPD 290 Registrant Requirements
Filed under Press Release, on 8/18/2020 4:07:00 PM by Author: Sergeant Christian Camarillo #3561.

During COVID-19, the San Jose Police Department is functional and remains committed to providing emergency and essential services to the community. Updates on services will continue as COVID-19 protocols are updated by County and State Health Departments. The Department is still processing paperwork for registrations, pre-booking, warrants, and is scheduling appointments for all fingerprinting. This is additional information to the update we provided on August 12, 2020.

Per the State's Executive Order (N-63-20, paragraph 15), sex registrants are required to register either in person or via the phone.  In the interest of helping prevent the spread of COVID-19, phone registration is the preferred method of registration.  Please call (408) 277-4114 to complete registration telephonically or to schedule an appointment for any of the above-stated services.

NOTE: Do not register in person if you have tested positive for COVID-19, if you are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19, or have been exposed to an individual who has tested positive for COVID-19 within the previous 14-days.

As a reminder, visitors to the Police Department's Main Lobby are required to wear face coverings/masks.

All registrants must have current registration before September 8, 2020.  After September 8, 2020, the San Jose Police Department will resume regular enforcement for sex registrants that fail to register.  Registrants out of compliance will be in violation, and a complaint will be filed with the District Attorney's office.

Registration hours are Monday-Friday 8 am - 4 pm.
