FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

During the course of this investigation, San José Police Department Robbery Detectives identified suspect Demario Emmanuel as a co-conspirator involved in this string of robberies and subsequently obtained a warrant for his arrest.  On April 13, 2023, the SJPD Covert Response Unit (CRU) arrested the suspect in San José. During the arrest, the suspect's girlfriend, Jayonae Glaser, attempted to run over Officers and flee the scene. Suspect Glaser was taken into custody shortly after.

In the vehicle,  Officers located a loaded firearm equipped with an extended magazine.  Suspect Emmanuel was booked into jail on a one million dollar arrest warrant for multiple robberies. Suspect Glaser was booked into jail for multiple charges including possession of a firearm, resisting arrest, and assault with a deadly weapon on a police officer.

Between February 24th and March 29th of 2023, San José Police Department Robbery Unit Detectives investigated a string of strong-armed robberies in which the suspects appeared to be targeting the AAPI community. Detectives identified the suspects and obtained warrants for their arrest, in addition to search warrants for their residences. The suspects were responsible for a number of other similar robberies throughout the bay area. 

On March 30th, SJPD's Covert Response Unit (CRU) located and arrested the suspects in the city of Oakland. Through subsequent searches, SJPD Robbery Unit Detectives recovered various pieces of stolen property, approximately $10,000 in cash, illegal firearms, and equipment used to manufacture privately manufactured firearms (PMF's or ghost guns). The suspects were booked at Santa Clara County Main Jail on multiple felony counts of robbery.
