From March 2023 through August 2023, the San José Police Department has investigated 26 commercial burglaries, including many “smoke shop” type businesses.

During the course of the investigation, SJPD Burglary Unit Detectives identified six juvenile suspects. The suspects had a pattern of using stolen Kia or Hyundai model vehicles to collide with the exterior of the businesses, causing significant damage to the entrance and breaching the structure. The suspects would then enter the businesses and steal merchandise before fleeing the scene in their stolen vehicle. These suspects are believed to be responsible for several additional commercial burglaries outside the city of San José.

Detectives obtained arrest warrants for the juvenile suspects and search warrants for several residences. On August 30, 2023, Officers from the Covert Response Unit and Special Operations Division arrested the suspects in San José. Two firearms and evidence related to the burglaries were located during the search. The juvenile suspects were booked into Santa Clara County Juvenile Hall for burglary and firearm charges. During the investigation, an adult suspect was also identified and arrested. The adult suspect, Vincent Loredo, was booked into Santa Clara County Jail for firearm, narcotic, and child endangerment charges.

"Our Department is committed to enforcing the law, and hope that we can be part of a solution to prevent our youth from getting entangled in the criminal justice system."

Anyone with any information or surveillance video regarding the above commercial burglaries is urged to contact Detective Gach #4338 of the San Jose Police Department Burglary Unit at 4338@sanjoseca.govor 408-277-4521.
