In January 2024, Detectives from the San José Police Department’s Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC)/Child Exploitation Detail (CED) Task Force began an investigation after receiving a report of an adult male suspect sending inappropriate messages to a female minor victim. The suspect, Anthony Daly, was the victim's swim coach, and at the time of the incident was coaching in the city of Milpitas. The investigation revealed the following:
Between July and September of 2023, suspect Daly sent messages containing sexually explicit content to the victim on multiple occasions.
On July 18, 2024, Detectives arrested suspect Daly in the city of San Mateo and booked him into Santa Clara County Jail for the crime of annoying or molesting a minor.
