On July 16, 2024, at approximately 12:29 PM, San José Police Department Officers responded to the area of S. Bascom Avenue and Camden Avenue for a report of a vehicle collision involving a bicyclist. The preliminary investigation revealed the following:
A 2015 maroon Honda CRV, occupied by a juvenile female driver, was traveling east bound on Camden Avenue at the S. Bascom Avenue intersection when it struck a bicycle. The bicycle was ridden by an adult male, that was traveling south bound on S. Bascom Avenue across Camden Avenue against a red traffic light.
The bicyclist was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries where he later stabilized.
The driver remained on scene and was cooperative with the investigation.
On August 1, 2024, at approximately 7:03 PM, the bicyclist succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.
This is the 29th fatal collision and 29th traffic death of 2024.
The identity of the victim will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner's Office.
