On August 6, 2024, at approximately 4:21 PM, San José Police Department Officers responded to the area of Leigh Avenue and Camden Avenue for a report of a vehicle collision involving a pedestrian. The preliminary investigation revealed the following:
A 2006 Chevy pickup truck, occupied by an adult male driver, was traveling west bound on Camden Avenue on a green light when it struck a 11 year old male juvenile pedestrian. The juvenile pedestrian was riding a non-electric scooter north bound in a marked crosswalk at the intersection of Camden Avenue and Leigh Avenue when the collision occurred.
The juvenile pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver remained on scene and was cooperative with the investigation.
This is the 30th fatal collision and 30th traffic death of 2024. This is the 11th pedestrian death of 2024.
The identity of the victim will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner's Office.
