On August 11, 2024, at approximately 3:18 AM, Patrol Officers responded to a report of a shooting at a business in the 900 Block of McLaughlin Avenue. Multiple reporting parties called police to report a shooting inside of the business. Upon arrival, Officers located an adult male victim suffering from at least one gun shot wound. Officers began emergency medical care and summoned paramedics to the scene. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.
The unknown suspect fled prior to police arrival.
The San José Police Department Homicide Unit responded to the scene and is investigating the incident.
The motive and circumstances surrounding the event are under investigation.
The identity of the victim will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office after confirming the victim’s identity and notifying next of kin.
This is the City's 20th homicide of 2024.
