On August 22, 2024, at approximately 8:49 PM, San José Police Department Officers responded to a traffic collision in the area of Hostetter Road and Automation Parkway involving a vehicle and a pedestrian. The preliminary investigation revealed the following:
A 2005 grey Toyota pickup truck, occupied by an adult male driver and an adult female passenger, was traveling westbound on Hostetter Road when it struck an adult male pedestrian in the roadway outside of any marked crosswalk near the intersection of Automation Parkway.
The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.
The driver remained on scene and was cooperative with the investigation.
This is the 34th fatal collision and 34th traffic death of 2024. This is also the 13th pedestrian death of 2024.
The identity of the victim will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner's Office.
