The San José Police Department’s Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC)/Child Exploitation Detail (CED) Task Force have arrested four suspects for attempting to communicate with a minor with the intent to commit sexual acts. The investigation entailed online communication between August 12 to August 16, 2024 that led to the suspects' arranging to meet with a minor and arriving at a location for the purpose of engaging in sexual activities.
ICAC Detectives with the assistance of the Special Operations Violent Crimes Enforcement Team, METRO Unit, Downtown Services Unit, and Street Crimes Unit located and apprehended the suspects at the arranged meeting locations.
On August 13, 2024, Suspect Jonathan Nunez was arrested in the city of San José. On August 14, 2024, Suspect Carlos Mendez was arrested in the city of San José. On August 15, 2024, Suspect Christopher Roark was arrested in the city of San José. All three suspects were booked into Santa Clara County Jail for crimes related to attempting to communicate with a minor for sex.
On August 16, 2024, Suspect Christopher Hus fled the area when Detectives and Special Operations personnel attempted to take him into custody. ICAC detectives obtained an arrest warrant for the suspect. With the assistance of the California Highway Patrol, suspect Hus was taken into custody in Union City and was later booked into Santa Clara County Jail for multiple crimes related to attempting to communicate with a minor for sex.
