After receiving multiple community tips, the San José Police Department Human Trafficking Task Force (HTTF) conducted a two-month long investigation that led to the arrest of three suspects for operating residential brothels in the city of San José.
On August 28, 2024, the SJPD HTTF, in collaboration with multiple SJPD specialized units, executed three search warrants at suspected residential brothels located at the 200 block of Palacio Royal Circle, the 700 block of Bonita Avenue, and the 1100 block of Gifford Avenue.
During the execution of the search warrants, four adult female human trafficking survivors were located and provided resources.
On August 28, 2024, suspect Tong and suspect Tao were arrested in the city of San José and booked into Santa Clara County Main Jail for human trafficking.
On September 3, 2024, suspect Liu was arrested in the city of San José and booked into Santa Clara County Main Jail for human trafficking.
This operation was made possible with the assistance of the SJPD Downtown Services Unit, VCET, METRO, Street Crimes Unit, 290 Team, Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Unit, and SJPD Patrol Officers.
