On February 14, 2025, at approximately 7:14 PM, San José Police Department Patrol Officers responded to a report of a fight involving multiple people in the 300 Block of Santana Row. While enroute, the caller reported that someone had been stabbed. Upon arrival, Officers discovered a 15-year-old male victim suffering from at least one stab wound and immediately began life saving measures. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.
The suspects fled the scene prior to police arrival.
The San José Police Department Homicide Unit responded to the scene and began a comprehensive investigation into the incident. During the course of the investigation, Detectives learned the attack was gang motivated, although the victim had no gang affiliation or involvement. Detectives quickly identified the primary suspects as a 13-year-old male from the city of Campbell, three 16-year-old males from the city of San José, and 18-year-old Emanuel Sanchez-Damian from the city of Campbell.
On February 20, 2025, SJPD Special Operations personnel located and arrested four of the five individuals responsible for the attack, including the 13-year-old who carried out the fatal stabbing. The three 16-year-old juveniles were booked into Santa Clara County Juvenile Hall for felony assault. The 13-year-old was booked into Santa Clara County Juvenile Hall for murder and felony assault.
On February 21, 2025, SJPD Special Operations personnel arrested the fifth suspect, 18-year-old Sanchez-Damian who was subsequently booked into the Santa Clara County Jail for felony assault.
The identity of the victim will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office after confirming the victim’s identity and notifying next of kin.
This was the City's 3rd homicide of 2025.
