Suspect Yonatan Petros

On January 24, 2025, at approximately 1:30 PM, San José Police Department Patrol Officers responded to a report of an armed robbery that occurred at a residence located in the 80 block of East San Carlos Street. Two adult male suspects brandished firearms at the adult male victim and stole thousands of dollars from him. The victim fled on foot and contacted law enforcement.

SJPD Robbery Unit Detectives launched an extensive investigation and discovered that the SJPD Assaults Unit was also investigating one of the suspects for a separate incident involving a firearm that occurred on February 1, 2025 at the same location. SJPD Detectives positively identified that suspect as Yonatan Petros.

Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for the suspect and a search warrant for his associated residences in the city of San José and the city of San Leandro.

On March 13, 2025, Detectives, with the assistance of the SJPD Covert Response Unit, arrested Suspect Petros. During the execution of the search warrant in the city of San José, Detectives located and seized an unregistered firearm.

Suspect Petros was booked into Santa Clara County Main Jail for armed robbery and assault with a deadly weapon. The other suspect is currently unidentified and outstanding.
