| ARRESTED |
Earlier this year, the San José Police Department received an anonymous tip through Silicon Valley Crime Stoppers regarding possible firearms manufacturing and trafficking occurring at an apartment complex in the 4900 block of Cherry Avenue in the city of San José.
The SJPD Gun and Hazardous Offender Suppression Team (GHOST) launched an extensive investigation, which led to the identification of 35-year-old Frank Catanzaro as the primary suspect. Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Suspect Catanzaro, as well as a search warrant for his associated residence.
On June 26, 2025, the SJPD MERGE Unit apprehended Suspect Catanzaro and served the search warrant at his residence in the city of San José.
During the search of the residence, Detectives uncovered a cache of illegal firearm-related items, including:
- Multiple Privately Made Firearms (PMFs), also known as “ghost guns”
- A pistol equipped with a silencer attachment
- Ammunition
- Three 3D printers
- Over 40 spools of filament commonly used in the production of firearms
Catanzaro was subsequently booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail for manufacturing and possession of un-serialized firearms, unlawful sale of firearms, and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.

This investigation underscores the clear and escalating threat posed by untraceable, illegally manufactured firearms. The San José Police Department remains unwavering in its mission to identify, disrupt, and dismantle these operations before they can contribute to gun violence in our community.
Anyone with information about this case or similar cases is asked to contact Detective Epperson #4554 of the San José Police Department GHOST via email: 4554@sanjoseca.gov or 408-277-4161.
