On July 10, 2025, at approximately 11:05 PM, San José Police Department Patrol Officers responded to a report of a hit-and-run vehicle collision that occurred in the area of Quimby Road and Rigoletto Drive. The preliminary investigation revealed the following:

A 2004 Honda Accord, occupied by an adult male driver and an adult male passenger, was traveling northbound on Quimby Road approaching Rigoletto Drive when it rear ended a 2017 Subaru Crosstrek, occupied by an adult male driver, that was stopped at a red light. As a result of that collision, the Subaru was pushed, striking a 2017 Nissan Pathfinder also waiting at the red light.

The driver of the Honda fled the scene of the collision. The passenger of the Honda was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries and later stabilized. The driver of the Subaru sustained non-life threatening injuries.

On July 11, 2025, the Santa Clara County Office of the Medical Examiner advised SJPD Traffic Investigations Unit Detectives that the passenger succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.

This is the 15th fatal collision and 15th traffic death of 2025.

The identity of the victim will be released by the Office of the Medical Examiner.

Anyone with information on this investigation is urged to contact Detective Aldinger #4183 of the San José Police Department's Traffic Investigations Unit at 4183@sanjoseca.gov or 408-277-4654.
