SJPD Arrests Suspect for Possession of Child Sexual Abuse Material

In March of 2025, the San José Police Department Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) / Child Exploitation Detail (CED) Task Force began a comprehensive investigation into the illegal downloading and distributing of images of Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM). 

During the course of the investigation, Detectives discovered an adult male suspect, later identified as Kaiwen Du, was observed downloading and distributing multiple files of prepubescent Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM). Following this, ICAC Detectives confirmed that CSAM was being possessed and distributed from the suspect's residence. ICAC detectives obtained a search warrant for the suspect's residence.

On August 27, 2025, ICAC Detectives, with the assistance of ICAC affiliates from Santa Clara PD, Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Department as well as with additional support from the San Jose Police Human Trafficking Unit, 290 Unit and patrol, located and apprehended Suspect Du in the city of San José.

During the search of his residence, ICAC forensic officers located and seized evidence belonging to Suspect Du that contained child sexual abuse material. Detectives also discovered Suspect Du had been employed as an instructor at an after-school program at an elementary school located in the city of Sunnyvale.

Suspect Du was later transported to the Santa Clara County Main Jail and booked for crimes related to possession of child sexual abuse material and the distribution of child sexual abuse material.
