On August 24, 2025 at approximately 4:40 PM, San José Police Department Patrol Officers responded to a gang-motivated attempted stabbing that occurred in the 1500 block of Bahama Way. The adult male victim was walking in the area when he was approached by four suspects. The suspects, perceiving him as a rival gang member, began to chase the victim. One of the suspects produced a large knife and attempted to stab the victim in the neck multiple times. Fortunately, the victim was able to escape and hide from the suspects. The suspects fled the scene prior to police arrival.

SJPD Gang Investigations Unit (GIU) Detectives began an investigation and discovered that two of the same suspects were responsible for another incident that occurred on August 30, 2025 where SJPD Patrol Officers responded to a gang-motivated robbery and assault with a deadly weapon in the area of Clarice Drive and Huran Drive. Two male suspects approached the juvenile male victim and made gang-motivated statements. Both suspects violently assaulted the victim and stole various items from the victim. The suspects fled the scene prior to police arrival.

After a thorough investigation, GIU Detectives identified the suspects responsible for the incidents: Michael Reyes, a 14-year-old juvenile suspect, a 16-year-old juvenile suspect, and an 18-year-old suspect who was a juvenile at the time of the incident. GIU Detectives obtained arrest warrants and search warrants for all suspects.

On November 20, 2025, Suspect Reyes, the 14-year-old juvenile suspect, and the now 18-year-old juvenile suspect were all located and arrested in the city of San José. The 16-year-old juvenile suspect was located and arrested in the city of Santa Cruz. During the execution of the residential search warrants, Detectives located gang indicia, as well as some of the stolen items from the robbery that occurred on August 30th.

 VTG Evidence Seized

Suspect Reyes was booked into Santa Clara County Main Jail for multiple crimes, including gang-motivated assault with a deadly weapon and robbery. The other three suspects were booked into Santa Clara County Juvenile Hall for gang-motivated assault with a deadly weapon.
