MEDIA ADVISORY

WHO: Shop with a Cop Foundation of Silicon Valley

WHAT: Join Shop with a Cop Silicon Valley, the San José Police Department, and local public safety officers as they take 180 children and their families shopping in the 18th Annual Shop with a Cop Breakfast and Shopping Spree.

Shop with a Cop provides students from four local Title I elementary schools with an opportunity to select gifts for themselves and family members, all while building positive experiences with officers. These students participated in a 10-week reading challenge, with a majority of them making an equivalent of four-months reading growth. The shopping spree is a reward for their reading achievements and perfect attendance. Additionally, 20 other children who have been impacted by high-profile, traumatic incidents in their young lives will be participating.

Over 200 uniformed officers and firefighters from roughly 23 different local law enforcement agencies will give their time by partnering with children from the local schools for a fun-filled day beginning with a breakfast, a visit from Santa, and a $300 Target shopping spree from Shop with a Cop Silicon Valley.

WHEN: Wednesday, December 10, 2025, (Breakfast) 7:30 AM - 9:00 AM, (Shopping) 9:30 AM - 12:00 PM

WHERE: (Breakfast) Holiday Inn - 1350 N. First Street, and (Shopping) Target-533 Coleman Avenue (College Park Target), San José

WHY: Shop with a Cop is an annual event established in 2008 and sponsored by local law enforcement, Target, individual donors, grants and local businesses which aims to provide children with a special shopping spree and encourage positive relationships with police. For many children, it will be the only holiday experience they will have.
This year, CEFCU is the presenting sponsor.

Additional funding was provided by Chevron, ADOBE, Target, Comerica Bank, Meriwest Credit Union, Coastal Lumber, Santa Clara County Board Supervisor Betty Duong, San Jose Mayor Matt Mahan, San Jose City Councilmember Michael Mulcahy, Intero Foundation, local businesses, private donors, and more.

Participating Agencies: San José Police Department (SJPD), SJPD Reserves, SJPD CSO's, SJPD PAL Cadets, SJPD Communications, California Highway Patrol, Sunnyvale DPS, Santa Clara Police Department, Santa Clara County Park Rangers, California Department of Fish and Wildlife, Campbell Police Department, Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office Investigators, Los Altos Police Department, Los Gatos/Monte Sereno Police Department, Menlo Park Police Department, Milpitas Police Department, Palo Alto Police Department, Santa Clara County (SCC) Sheriff's Office, SCC Correctional Officers, SCC Probation, Los Bomberos of Northern California (Latino Firefighters), San José State University Police Department, San Jose Fire Department, and Salinas Police Department.
