On December 13, 2025, at approximately 1:50 AM, San José Police Department Patrol Officers responded to the area of Technology Place and North First Street for a report of a hit and run vehicle collision involving a pedestrian.
The preliminary investigation revealed the following:
A 2007 silver Mercedes SUV, occupied by an adult male driver, was traveling eastbound on Technology Place through the intersection at North First Street when he struck an adult male pedestrian who was crossing Technology Place outside of a marked crosswalk.
The pedestrian succumbed to his injuries and was ultimately pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver fled the scene prior to police arrival. Officers later identified and apprehended the adult male driver, who was subsequently booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail for hit and run and vehicular manslaughter.
This incident is the city's 36th fatal collision and 37th traffic death of 2025. This is the 18th pedestrian death of 2025.
The identity of the decedent will be released by the Santa Clara County Office of the Medical Examiner.
