On September 18, 2019, at approximately 8:38 PM, San José Police Department Patrol Officers responded to a report of a vehicle collision involving a pedestrian that occurred in the area of Lucretia Avenue and Summerside Drive. The preliminary investigation revealed the following:
A 2012 white Dodge SUV, occupied by an adult male driver, was traveling southbound on Lucretia Avenue in the area of Summerside Drive when it struck two pedestrians, an adult female and an adult male. Both pedestrians were crossing the roadway outside of any marked crosswalks.
The adult male pedestrian was transported to a local hospital with life threatening injuries but later stabilized.
On December 16, 2025, the Santa Clara County Office of the Medical Examiner advised SJPD Traffic Investigations Unit Detectives that the pedestrian succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased on December 13, 2025. The Office of the Medical Examiner declared the manner of death due to the accident.
This was the 60th fatal collision and 62nd traffic death of 2019. This was the 31st pedestrian death of 2019.
The identity of the victim will be released by the Office of the Medical Examiner.
