On December 7, 2025, at approximately 4:13 PM, San José Police Department Patrol Officers responded to the area of Cataldi Drive and Camargo Drive for a report of a traffic collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian.
The preliminary investigation revealed the following:
A 2007 Nissan Altima, operated by an adult female driver, was traveling westbound on Cataldi Drive approaching Camargo Drive when it struck an adult male pedestrian walking westbound in the roadway, outside of any marked crosswalk.
The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, and later stabilized. The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation.
On January 5, 2026, SJPD Traffic Investigations Unit Detectives were notified by the Santa Clara County Office of the Medical Examiner that the pedestrian had succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased on January 3, 2026.
This incident was the city's 39th fatal collision and 40th traffic death of 2025. This was the 20th pedestrian death of 2025.
The identity of the decedent will be released by the Santa Clara County Office of the Medical Examiner.
